Singin’ River Brewing Co. is bringing the mother of all beer festivals to the Shoals—an entire weekend devoted to celebrating the 100 year German tradition of drinking beer with an exciting Oktoberfest street party. Bratwurst will be smoking on the grill, live music will be floating through the air, and specialty German beer will be flowing during a weekend with something for everyone. Test your strength by participating in the Goodwill Games with a stein hoisting contest, beer relay, grain sack toss, and cornhole tournament; catch up on your favorite football game in the sports pavilion with big screen TVs, or enjoy art exhibits and vendors to browse inside. And while there will be plenty of beer, wine, and cider for the adults, we haven’t forgotten the kids during this family-friendly event—children will enjoy plenty of games and activities, including face painting and a bounce house. The weekend will be filled with good cheer and it’s a family affair with something fun for every age. Do you have the quickest dachshund in the Shoals? Put your pup to the test in this entertaining race of speed and intelligence with dachshunds running 150 feet from one end of the Dash to the other. Dogs wear numbered hot dog bun costumes and compete in heats of 3-5.

Durstig Games

Test your strength in a simple game of stein hoisting where participants hold a 1 liter glass stein filled with liquid and held straight out at a ninety degree angle, parallel to the floor with elbows locked. Once participants elbow bends or they spill/drop the stein, the participant loses the contest. The longest time wins!

Stein Relay- Team of 3

When the start signal is given, Runner 1 from each team can gather up to 12 steins provided he/she can hold them. Next he/she will carry the steins to a table at the opposite end of the course. After Runner 1 places his/her steins on the table, the race will continue until all runners have carried the steins, ending with Runner 3 picking up as many of the steins as he/she can hold and will carry them back to the opposite end of the course to cross the finish line.

Grain Sack Toss

Competitors will be throwing a full grain sack as far as they can three times to see if they can meet set marks or make a new record. Bonus points will be awarded for throwing set distances and for throwing it the longest distance at the festival. This is a freestyle form event, so any style throw goes; just be sure to stay in-bounds!

Mustache Competition

Freestyle Mustache – Mustache may be styled with aids and character. The hairs are allowed to start growing from up to a maximum of 1.5 cm beyond the end of the upper lip. Aids are allowed.

Full Beard – This category is for the gentlemen with the full facial fur who like to add some style. Touch up the mustache and create a look to impress the judges. Aids are not allowed.

The Swampers': Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest

Make sure and dress in your best dirndls and leiderhosen! Entrants should report to the taproom by 4:30pm. Entrants will be judged as a couple by popular vote. Winners receive a STAYCATION at the Shoals Marriott.
